1 Aanbidding

We are brought together as a congregation by the wonderful grace that we may know the Lord and that we have an inner need to glorify Him. We want to celebrate our salvation together in and through Jesus Christ. In the congregation this happens on a regular basis during:

2 Gemeenskap van Gelowiges (koinonia)

Koinonia or Community of believers is when members are willing to share their spiritual gifts with others and give them to others, BUT are also willing to receive others’ gifts in their own lives. This is a matter that cannot be forced. For Witfontein, the koinonia is special, because over time it has developed into a team that works together with one goal in mind – to do it all for a crowd of one and that is for the Lord.

3 Dissipelskap

To be able to learn more and more from the Lord like Jesus’ disciples in order to be like our teacher is very important to us. Discipleship is for us to become more and more like Jesus, knowing that we can never be like Him. A pupil would like to be like his teacher.

Here, a particular effort is made to expose members to a little more than just a normal worship service. Focused sermon series and different programs are used here to make the entire congregation focus on one issue. There have been dozens of series that have seen the light and made a difference in members’ lives. Contact opportunities are also created during the week to further equip members about the week’s theme.

We make use of sermon notes and accompanying handbooks, as well as light images that are displayed via the data projector. (Our congregation already has a library of almost 900 sermons on CD).

It is when we grow spiritually in depth that the congregation can spontaneously also grow in breadth in its numbers.

5 Evangelisasie

The congregation also wants to be the bearer of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus not only to those who need to grow spiritually because they already know the Lord Jesus, but also to those who have gone astray and become lost. There is also the further need to touch those who have never made the choice for the Lord. This is primarily the reason why we are a church: for those who are not yet part of the church.

Our congregation has dozens of members who have gone through the Faithful Witness course and who are comfortable having a faith conversation. Training takes place all the time and goes out to members and people who need such a conversation.

This is and continues to be the main business of any church’s congregation – to bring people closer to the Lord and guide them to make a surrender to the Lord. Perhaps a gap in our church is the fact that most of our members may not have FAITH. They know about the cross of the Lord Jesus, but to believe that Jesus himself hung there for them personally is another matter.
